About the institute

Colin Ferrel, MPH

Epidemiologist, nanomedicine researcher, and founder of Acropolis Analytics Research Institute.

Research interests

From mechanisms to population health

Colin’s research spans infectious disease, chronic disease surveillance, cognitive decline, and caregiver burden. A common interest is how to build measures that can be used across studies without losing the context that makes a comparison meaningful.

At Acropolis, that work includes PAEON, a program for county-level population-health analysis, and the ADRD Caregiver Experience Survey.

Background

Education and training

Colin holds bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Medical Microbiology and a Master of Public Health in Infectious Diseases/Zoonoses from Kansas State University. His graduate training also includes agricultural biosecurity research, applied statistics, and interdisciplinary medical sciences.

Prior research

Nanomedicine and drug delivery

At the Nanotechnology Innovation Center of Kansas State, Colin spent five years developing hybrid nanoparticles that combine biological membranes with synthetic lipid systems. The research explored how those combinations could improve biocompatibility, targeting, and drug delivery.

This work is part of his academic background. It is not an active Acropolis research program or an institutional endorsement of Acropolis.

Scholarship & collaboration

Publications and contact

The reports and publications collection is the public index for reviewed work. When citing a publication, use the authors and affiliations on that publication; prior work is not automatically an Acropolis release.
